Drawn by the allure of urbane, city living, a suburban couple found their new home in Chicago’s 4 East Elm development. As a previous client in our commercial interiors portfolio, the client hired Gary Lee Partners to finish the residence, whose base finishes had already been chosen per our design package with the building. Downsizing from a larger home, the couple wanted a home that worked with the building’s modern architecture while exuding comfortable and casual luxury. GLP elevated the client’s traditional roots to design an updated furniture plan that worked harmoniously with the residence’s materials and finishes, in particular those chosen for the kitchen. The living room is anchored by a custom sectional and a wrap-around continuous media center that connects it to the study. Transparent, yet eye-catching light fixtures were chosen to deliver a statement while keeping sight lines to the exterior views uninterrupted.
