Thirty-5 Capital is a Chicago-based private equity firm that invests in and partners with early stage and family businesses specializing in sports technology and innovation, entertainment, and real estate. The client leased the top two floors of a classic, post-Chicago Fire, warehouse space on Randolph St in the West Loop. The new office’s location amidst world-class restaurants, art galleries, retail, and residences served as inspiration. The building’s century old brick walls were painted white to create a blank canvas for the firm’s extensive art collection and to foster a place of respite from energy of the surrounding neighborhood.
Lighting elements provided modern, sculptural balance to the artwork and volume of the space. Bold accents like the orange conference room rug draw from the connect the art palettes with the built space. Black framed, glass wall partitions provide a sense of transparency and allows light into the cavernous core. The resulting space strikes a delicate balance between serenity and cacophony, privacy and transparency, demureness and audacious.
